English - W/c 15th June

There will be an English live stream at 9.15am on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and Reading at 11.45am on Thursday and Friday.

 

A link to join will be posted to our Google Classroom stream just before 9.15am/11.45am on the day. When the link appears, simply click on it to join. If the link doesn't appear, please 'refresh' your page. If the link still does not appear, you can join the live stream by clicking on the nine dots in the top right corner, then click on 'Meet'.

Friday 19th June

Today is 'edit and improve' day, so I have set a 'Re-Do' for lots of you on Purple Mash. You need to read your report aloud and edit and improve. Check your punctuation and spellings! 

If you have written your report on paper, please edit and improve, as above.

 

If you haven't completed your report, please complete it today, as we will be moving on to a new English focus next week.

 

If you have not had a 'Re-do' set, or your improvements do not take long, please go to IXL and complete: Year 3 English - Q.1 - Prepositions.

Thursday 18th June

LO: To write a non-chronological report.

It's time to draw together the work we have been doing this week. 

Remember and use the 'features' that make a successful non-chronological report. Please refer to the example non-chronological report, and also the features of a non-chronological report that we looked at together, uploaded below (Tuesday 16th June).

 

You will need to use the 'fact file' you created yesterday. There is an example fact file and the mind map that we created together, uploaded below (Wednesday 17th June).

 

Use your 'fact file' to write a non-chronological report about the Giant Flying Turtles. You will need to expand on and embellish the basic information in your fact file, writing in full sentences, adding lots of extra detail.

2Do on Purple Mash: Create a 'fact file' about the flying turtles.

 

If you are unable to join the live stream, please watch the 'Once in a lifetime' animation again (as many times as you need to) - focussing on the giant flying turtles.

Look at the example fact file which has been uploaded below. Then complete the 2Do on Purple Mash, to create your own fact file about the giant flying turtles. (You will need to use some imagination for this task!)

You will then use your fact file on Thursday to help you to write your non-chronological report, so the better your fact file is ... the better your report will be!
