Love and Serve

“Every individual will develop knowledge, skills and understanding with confidence and belief to take in life's journey. Together we will excel, love and serve through the Catholic Faith without limitations.”

English - W/c 29th June

Please note a slight change to the live streams this week:

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday will be English live streams at 9.00am, as usual. Wednesday will be a Reading live stream at 9.00am.

(There will be no English live stream on Friday. The 9.00am one will be Maths.)

On Wednesday, Fr Martin is celebrating 20 years of being a Priest, and would love everyone to join him for live Mass from St Mary's Church at 11.00am.

There will be live Mass as usual on Friday, but this will also be at 11.00am.

Live Mass is accessible via the Parish facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/St-Marys-Catholic-church-Leek-105093714544492/  and will require a parental login.

Friday 3rd July                 (Reminder - The live stream at 9.00am today is Maths and there is Mass at 11.00am.)

LO: To write an alternative ending to the story.

In our live stream yesterday, we made lots of notes on a mind-map, to plan the first paragraph of an alternative ending to the story. (This has been uploaded below.)

Your task following the live stream was to plan another two paragraphs (using notes on a mind map).

Today your task is to write the alternative (different) ending to the story. So now, you need to transform your notes from your mind map into fantastic sentences. Think carefully about your sentence starters - you are banned from starting any more than one sentence with 'The' or any more than one sentence with 'She' or 'He'.

I really want to see some amazing adjectives and interesting adverbs!!

There is a 2Do set on Purple Mash, but if you prefer you can write your new story ending on paper. (Remember to close the 2Do and let me know how you have completed this work.)

I have uploaded an example for paragraph 1 below.

Thursday 2nd July

Live stream 9.00am

LO: To plan an alternative ending to the story.

Following our live stream, your task is to plan an alternative ending to the story. This task is to be completed on paper. There is a template uploaded below that you can use if you wish. Your planning only needs to be in note form, but remember - the better your plan, the easier it will be to write the alternative ending tomorrow.

Wednesday 1st July

Live stream 9.00am - Reading.

If you are able to read 'The Monster Within', which has been uploaded below, before the live stream, that would be great. Don't worry if you're not able to - we will share it together in the stream.

Wednesday 1st July

English - LO: To edit and improve.

If you completed your work on Purple Mash and it was handed in before 5pm yesterday, you have an individual 2Do on Purple Mash, to have a look at your work to see what improvements (if any) you can make.

If you completed your work on Purple Mash and handed in after 5pm, or completed your work on paper, you need to:

First, read your writing aloud to someone in your house.

- Can they help you to spot any punctuation and/or spelling mistakes?

- Is there anything that doesn't sound quite right?

Then, check the Success Criteria. Have you missed any of the points in the Success Criteria? You need to edit your work and make the improvements.

Success Criteria:

* Write in the third person.

* include description - interesting and amazing adjectives.

* adverbs to show 'how' the action happened, e.g. 'how' the girl moved.

* a short snappy sentence.

* an exclamation mark.

Tuesday 30th June

LO: To write the end of the story.

Live stream 9.00am.

Following our live stream, your task is to continue writing the end of the story.

This is set as a 2Do on Purple Mash. Please give me a couple of minutes after the stream to type what we have written together (in the live stream) into the template on Purple Mash, and you can continue from there.

Monday 29th June

LO: To write instructions for how to construct a junk model robot.

Live stream 9.00am.

You will need the features of an instruction text that you created on Friday, after looking through the 'Example_Instructional Text'.

It would also be useful to have access to a copy of the 'Features of an Instruction Text' which has been uploaded below.

Following the live stream, your task is to write an instruction text explaining how to construct a model robot. This is set as a 2Do on Purple Mash. If you prefer to complete it on paper, please let me know and send me a copy of your work (remembering to close down the 2Do.)
