Google Classroom Support

EXCITING NEWS! - GOOGLE CLASSROOM!

I sincerely appreciate your continued support, patience and understanding in these challenging times. It's fantastic to witness all the wonderful learning that continues to take place thanks to you and your fantastic children.

We are constantly looking at ways to make home learning as simple and effective as possible. With this in mind, I have set up a Google Classroom just for 'Year 3 Superstars'.

I sent out logins and passwords before half term - by school text message. If you have not received one, please contact me on:

eknobbs@st-marys-leek.staffs.sch.uk

Why Google Classroom?

This is a platform which provides:

  • Increased reliability and less 'crashing'.
  • Better compatibility across a range of devices including mobiles.
  • A 'live stream' facility.

So how does Google Classroom work? How do I log in?

You can access a Parents Guide to Google Classroom, which explains step-by-step how to access Google Classroom, which has been uploaded above as a PDF document.

Mr Dawson has also kindly shared a guide he produced for Year 4, which I've tweaked for Year 3 - 'Joining our Year 3 Google Classroom' - also accessible as a PDF above.

Thank you once again for your continued support, patience and understanding.

If one thing's been proven during this tricky time, it's how brilliant you and your children are at adapting to challenges and thriving in the face of adversity.

It's been great to see and hear so many of you in our Google Classroom.

See you there this week!

Thank you for remembering our Expectations for Live Stream Sessions:

1. Children will be dressed, appropriately.

2. Cameras remain 'off' during the live stream session, unless the teacher asks you to put it on.

We can say hello at the beginning and wave bye at the end with cameras on, then they are turned off and remain off.

You can do this using the pictures/icons at the bottom of your screen when you're in the live session. There should be three pictures, one that looks like a telephone in the middle, a microphone on the left and a camera on the right.

(Don't click on the telephone until the end of the session, as that ends your live session).

3. Microphones remain 'off' during the live stream session, unless the teacher asks you to put it on, e.g. to answer a question.

We can say hello at the beginning with mics on, then they are turned off and remain off.

4. We do not type messages to each other during the live session.
