English - W/c 18th May

Friday 22nd May -

1. Spelling Practise/Test

Revise adding the suffixes  ‘-ed’, ‘-ing’, ‘-s’, ‘-es’, ‘-ness’, ‘-ful’, ‘-less’‘-ly’  to the following words:

Remember the rules:

• A short vowel means you must double the consonant, e.g. hugging.

• If the root word ends in ‘-e’ this is dropped when adding a suffix beginning with a vowel letter (the exception in ‘being’), e.g. smiling.

You could practise with pyramids and/or rainbow writing. There is a look, say, cover, write, check sheet below.

You could also use the ICT Games website (link on Year 3 home learning page) to practise spellings.

Get someone at home to test you on 8-10 words! Good Luck!
