This week, we will be reading...

Monday

1. Practise reading the circled speed sounds (pages 4-5)

2. Practise reading the story green words (page 6)

3. Practise reading the red words (page 8)

4. Practise spelling any 5 of the red words from page 8. Look, cover, write and check!

5. Read the book up to page 16.

 

Tuesday

1. Practise reading the story green words (page 6) and the red words (page 8).

2. Practise spelling any 5 of the story green words from page 6. Look, cover write and check!

3. Read the book up to page 16.

4.  Write 1-2 sentences about where hot air balloons go. You may use page 11 of the book to help you. Try to include the following words:

  • balloon
  • high
  • above

 

NB - Task 4 can be completed on paper OR typed up on Google Classroom. It will appear in your child's 'Assignments' tab. Simply click 'Turn in' when finished and Mr D can check it. 

 

Wednesday

1. Read the book up to page 16.

2. Read the questions on page 18. Tell your grown up the answers.

3. Write the sentences from page 18 with the right word, e.g. 'A basket hangs below the balloon'.

 

NB - Children can complete task 3 on paper OR try the quiz on Google Classroom. It will appear in your child's 'Assignments' tab. Simply click 'Turn in' when finished and Mr D can check it. 

 

Thursday

1. Watch the video about hot air balloons below. After you watch the video, talk to your grown up about how how hot air balloons float.

2. Read the example fact file about hot air balloons (below).

3. Now it's your turn to start writing your own fact file letting people know about how hot air balloons work. Your fact file should tell me:

  • Where you sit
  • How it goes up
  • How it goes down
  • What your dream balloon would look like

NB - Task 3 can be completed on paper OR typed up on Google Classroom. It will appear in your child's 'Assignments' tab. Simply click 'Turn in' by 5pm and Mr D can check it ready for tomorrow's lesson where we will edit it.

Friday

1. Today, I would like you to finish off your fact file about hot air balloons. Make sure you send Mr D a photo of your final draft OR click 'Turn in' on Google Classroom when done.
