Advent Liturgies
Advent Week 1
“A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the LORD ; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.” Isaiah 40:3
It is only fitting that the first candle on the Advent wreath represents Hope – the first Sunday of Advent not only leads us to anticipate the birth of Christ but celebrate the beginning of a new liturgical season as well. The first candle is purple, the primary colour of Advent and a color symbolising royalty. Also called the “Prophecy Candle,” the first candle harkens us back to Isaiah’s foretelling of the birth of Christ and all of the promises God gave us in the Old Testament that would be fulfilled by the birth of Jesus.
This Advent, light the first candle on Sunday, December 1, 2024.
Year Six would like to invite all parents and all members o of the parish to join them in their Advent Liturgy on Tuesday 3rd December at 3pm.
