Charitable Outreach
St Mary's will be supporting OSCAR's this year. Oscar's supports children who are suffering with brain tumours. They also invest in research into Paediatric brain tumours. This is sadly something that as a school community we have experienced a number of times first hand. This year we fundraise for OSCAR's in loving memory of both Tally and Amelia.
St Mary's will be supporting Cafod throughout this year. We will be participating in the Family Fast Day in October. Alongside this, Year 5 are working alongside the St Francis Crew to achieve the Live Simply Award and focus on the Fix the Food campaign.
Each Lent the children at St Mary's join with schools all over the Archdiocese of Birmingham to raise money for Father Hudson’s Care. The charity provides outreach work to children, young people and families who are experiencing difficulties.
At St Mary's we have our own Mini Vinnies who follow the simple formula of ‘see, think, do’ to find people in need and help them. They might help by:
Writing cards for children in hospital
Visiting local care homes to sing or play games with the residents
Knitting scarves for the homeless
Running food collections for a local foodbank
Caritas shares the mission of the Church. It’s an ordered service to the community.
Inspired by Gospel values and the Catholic Social Teaching, Caritas responds to disasters, promotes integral human development and advocates on the causes of poverty and conflict.
At St Mary's we will be fundraising Caritas, supporting their work across the globe.
We will also be supporting our wonderful Parish of St Mary's through various single and joint fundraising activities.
