Nursery noise!
Mon 01 Jul 2019If you have heard lots of noise coming from the direction of school this week, blame Mrs Else and the nursery class!
There has been a buzz in the air quite literally as we continue with our Mini-beast topic.
For those of you who have been eagerly awaiting news ...
... We can today announce the safe arrival of 4 beautiful butterflies, fresh from their cocoons. This has caused much excitement for the staff, children and parents who were in school this morning.
Last week we had 10 snails in class too!
The children have been demonstrating this week how far their language skills have advanced in the time they have been attending school. Adults have been watching as some children question peers to find out more about our visitors or respond to friends by sharing their knowledge or experiences.
We will be releasing the butterflies on Friday so look out for them on your way to and from school.
Nursery will be thinking about their own journey during reflection time, how they have changed during the nursery year and are now ready, like the butterflies, for their next big adventure in Reception class.

Transition
Wed 12 Jun 2019While the cats away ...
... Nursery will play.
Whilst Reception were on their visit to Coombes Valley today, Nursery spotted the opportunity to go and explore their new classroom in preparation for September.
It was very exciting and the children grew at least 2 cm just at the thought of being the BIG children in Reception.
We completed our usual learning activities, which today was exploring Pentecost and the idea that the Holy Spirit helps guide us in making good choices. We discussed what good choices children can make to get ready for their new class.
Mrs Else was very impressed with how well everyone listened, maintained their focus at activities and especially how well the children tidied the class when we had finished.
Sssshhhhhhhhh! Reception will never even know we were there!

Karen Bradley MP visit to school
Fri 22 Mar 2019On Friday 22nd March, we had the pleasure of welcoming Karen Bradley MP to our school.
Mrs Bradley visited each class from Nursery all the way up to Year 6 to see what the children were learning and to have a look at their fabulous work.
When Mrs Bradley got to Year 6 they were learning about Lent. After quizzing children over what they had given up, she told them that she had given up chocolate and bread.
After this Mrs Bradley held a question and answer session with Year 4 and 6 children. The children asked many questions ranging from what a typical day in the life of an MP looked like, to what was her favourite food and even what she thought of the Prime Minister's shoes!!!
We would like to thank Mrs Bradley for taking the time to come and visit St Mary's.
