  • Chinese Restaurant Closing Down - Nursery

    Fri 08 Mar 2019

After many weeks of good trade the Nursery Chinese Restaurant will be closing it's doors to make way for the Three Bears Cottage this week.

The children in nursery have fully embraced their learning about Chinese culture following the celebration of Chinese New Year.

They have enjoyed tasting different foods talking about their preferences. They have then gone on to cook and serve these tasty dishes in the restaurant, writing down orders and making sure their customers were well fed.

Mrs Else has been incredibly impressed with the level of customer service and interaction between the children who are learning to listen and respond to others during play.

Of course this year is the Year of The Pig, so our learning wouldn't have been complete without some very messy Papier Mache when creating our class pigs.

  • "MOMO" Challenge - ***Important e-Safety information for Parents***

Wed 27 Feb 2019 Mrs Kelsey

Please find a link to a National Online Safety site

    https://nationalonlinesafety.com/

This site releases lots of parental advice on apps

and computer programs which your children may be accessing.

It is very informative for parents and we would urge you to take a look.

Today they have released advice on a new dangerous social media challenge which is spreading through the Internet like wildfire.

    Its called the "MOMO Challenge".

We need to educate our children ASAP to ignore the messages and we would ask you to tell children that nothing will happen to them if they ignore the challenge and ask them certainly not to click on the challenge or links if they appears in any of their social media feeds.

The challenge tells children that serious harm can come to them or their family if they don’t follow "MOMO’s" instructions by completing any one of a number of dangerous and harmful instructions.

Here is a link to a news bulletin about this new viral threat.

  • Nursery and Reception Class in the snow!!

    Wed 30 Jan 2019
The Nursery and Reception children loved their snowy walks to school on Wednesday so thank you to the parents and carers for getting them here safely.

Before venturing out to build our snowmen, both classes brought the cold weather inside and explored the snow in our messy trays. There was lots of igloo building and collaborative play, not to mention the odd lost Kangaroo!

  • GDPR New Regulations

    Fri 25 May 2018

General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR

How will it affect our college and what will the changes
    mean for students and parents?

The GDPR is new legislation regarding the maintenance and protection of your personal data by those who have a lawful basis to process it.

Painsley Catholic MAC’s lawful basis is ‘Public task’. This is because the processing is necessary for our official functions. For processing of additional data we will always ask your consent e.g. photography consent, trip consent etc. This is normally done at the start of the school year.

The new regulation means that you have greater control of the data we hold. For example, you have the right

    · for data to be rectified e.g. if you change address, phone number etc. you can let us know and we’ll update our
    records.

    • to request what information we hold about you.

In line with the new regulations, schools in the Painsley Catholic MAC have audited all the data which is held about students, parents, staff, teaching school members and third parties. By doing this we can see exactly what data we have, who it can be shared with, who has access to it, the security in place and when and the data can be securely destroyed.

Before working with any new system schools in the Painsley Catholic MAC will follow our new Data Impact Assessment. By using this, it helps us to see whether the processing of the data is necessary, whether additional consent is required and to ensure it is held securely.

To ensure accountability and transparency, all organisations must now appoint a Data Protection Officer. This must be someone who does not work with the data in our school as this would create a conflict of interest. Therefore, our Data Protection Officer will be Mrs Baskeyfield, MAC Business Manager who is based at Painsley Catholic College.

The protection of all our data is taken very seriously and as such the school limits the data that is available to individual staff on the basis of their role. Any breach of data protection will be fully investigated and the Information Commissioners Office will be informed as per GDPR guidelines.

Attached to this letter you will find our new consent for photographs/inclusion in newsletter form. This sheet must be completed, signed and returned to the school. That way we can ensure that your consent data is correct and up to date.

Our new GDPR policy, Data Impact Assessment, Fair Processing Notices and other associated documents will soon be on our website where you can find more information about what we are doing to stay GDPR compliant. If you have any questions please contact Mrs Baskeyfield lba@painsley.staffs.sch.uk or telephone 01538 714944.

Dear Parents and Children of St Mary’s Catholic Academy,

I am writing to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

It has been good to meet so many of you over the last three months: at my Induction as Parish Priest at the beginning of November and at the School Production last week.

Since I arrived in the parish I have ensured that there is an opportunity for a weekly celebration of Mass in School. This takes place on Thursday morning at 9.30am, and I am delighted that the Children enjoy these celebrations and that you are able to be present.

Next term there will be an opportunity to meet with the parents of the Year 3 Children and Year 6 Children preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation. .

Next week we will be celebrating the Birth of Christ on Christmas Day. I would like you to know that there will be a warm welcome for you and your family at St Mary’s Church. The Mass times for Christmas are:

Sunday 24 December – Christmas Eve

5.30pm Carols, Readings and the Blessing of the Crib

    6pm Christmas Mass

Monday 25 December – Christmas Day

    12 midnight Christmas Mass

    8.30am Polish Mass

    10am Christmas Mass

I hope that you have a good Christmas and New Year.

    Yours sincerely,

    Fr Martin

We would like to thank each and everyone of you who kindly donated lots of different foods and toiletries at Harvest which we collected for the Leek & District Foodbank.

I can confirm that the total weight from the

"2017 Harvest Donation" was a whopping....

    189.3KG

Some children came along today when we delivered the items and they had a tour around the Foodbank. They were told about the whole process from when the donations are received to the transporting of goods to the people and families that are most in need.

Thank you again for your kind generosity.

  • Minnie Vinnies sing at the Foxlowe!!

Tue 17 Oct 2017 Mrs Kelsey

The Minnie Vinnies today sang at the St Vincent de Paul old folks Christmas Luncheon, held at the Foxlowe, Leek. The luncheon is an Annual event organised by Mr John Knox and Mrs Maureen Powner of the St Vincent de Paul, Leek group.

It was a lovely day so the children walked to the venue where they sang 2 songs and performed a dance which they had choreographed with Mrs Howard. The event is becoming an annual event in the Minnie Vinnies calendar which the children all look forward to. We  would like to "Thank" Mr Knox and Mrs Powner for inviting us and are already planning our songs for the next one!!
